SMARTY Kid - Product Details

This SMARTY Kid features all the same design improvements as the standard-size SMARTY 2.0, just scaled down in size!

The SMARTY Kid is modeled after roughly a 4’9'' (145 cm) human shape with an average build. If it were a human, it would weigh roughly 77 lbs (35 kg). This is the size of the average 11-year-old. It is our smallest model, made to fit most kids.

For average-size grapplers, check out the Pre-Filled SMARTY 2.0.

For larger grapplers, check out the Pre-Filled SMARTY XL.

The Pre-Filled SMARTY Kid weighs about only 24 lbs (11 kg). We’ve found this to be the optimal weight for resistance and maneuverability, especially when drilling from the bottom position, to simulate a floating opponent.

It comes in a cardboard box 15" x 15" x 23".

Grappling Smarty Kid (Pre-Filled) w/harness

This product is the best BJJ (and possibly best MMA) grappling dummy on the market (second only to a real person). It arrived within days of the international order perfectly filled & ready to go out of the box, it is beyond durable, has a great (realistic) practice weight of around 30-35 lbs for kids (6-13+), maintains a realistic grappling stance always (but is also realistically flexible in all positions @ the neck, shoulders, arms (elbows & wrists), hips, legs (knees & feet), etc. for choke/strangulation submission & all types of joint lock practices + it can take a beating as far as striking as well. Our 8-year old twins (boy & girl) have taken/are taking Taekwondo & Muay Thai lessons in class and our son has been training BJJ in class for about 4-months now and there is only so much that a 6’2 father can do as a grappling partner for them between classes = the Grappling Smarty Kid is perfect for realistic training at-home. The 1-hour classes 3-4 times a week offer the techniques, however, having the Grappling Smarty Kid at home allows them to repeat the positions & techniques over and over between classes with something their own size & weight. The Grappling Smarty Kid is perfect for BJJ…everything from having the kids practice their turtle, full mount, guard, back, side control, knee on belly, north/south, etc. position attacks & submissions + rolling to escaping from mount, back, side, guard, half/guard, butterfly, etc. control to practicing their own guards, etc. + the harness allows them to practice take-downs, leg & foot submissions, & striking. Heck, I can even roll with the Grappling Smarty Kid to demonstrate as well.The grappling Smarty Kid has a realistically proportioned head & chin + flexible arms (very important for all arm/legs/GI-loop, cross-collar, bow & arrow, Ezekiel with & without GI, leg & arm triangles, etc. choke/strangulation submissions w/GI & NOGI), the shoulders & elbows have realistic resistance & bend for all shoulder & elbow submissions; the knees & feet (have realistic heels) have realistic resistance & bend for knee, foot, & ankle submissions; and the hands have thumbs for armbar submissions. The Grappling Smart Kid held our daughter’s full weight while in turtle position (she balanced on top and it did not collapse under her). Our 8-year old twins are slim, but unrealistically strong for their age and size, so it is almost unbelievable that the Grappling Smarty Kid has not broken down somewhere by now after all of the submission & striking practice to date, however, it still always returns back to the same grappling position that it has when it came out of the box. For reference, they completely break most other training tools like this that we purchased in the past within 1-2 weeks…everything from speed bags, heavy bags, waist-mounted kick-return balls, hand targets for kicks & punches, etc. The Grappling Smarty Kid can definitely take a beating without any signs of wear to date…and, again, our twins (especially our son) have adult-powered kicks & punches. My son has kicked my knee out (from their Muay Thai training) in the past…and daughter leaves bruising. So, it is no embellishment here…only a great review for a great product. Thank you for your product. Unfortunately, we probably won’t need to purchase another one until they out-grow the size of this one unless they somehow break this one in the future…they will most definitely try. Again, great product…highly recommend to other parents with kids currently taking BJJ classes as (we all know) those 3-4 time per week classes aren’t enough for the kids to create muscle memory and get in the reps to get better…just as a child taking piano lessons needs a piano @ home, a child learning BJJ needs something at home to train with and (unless you are a glutton for punishment) this is that product = the best in market for them to train BJJ (and/or MMA) @ home.
